loosely based on the many marriages of King Henry VIII, Six tells the story of the King's six brides. Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, Six forms the tale as a singing competition in which each of the ladies must tell their stories to the judges. The audience watches as each wife regains their own identity.
The play begins as each woman introduces themselves by singing a song. Only the lady who had to suffer the most can become the band's lead singer. Despite fighting among themselves, the wives finally decide they can no longer let this man define them. And by the conclusion they sing together as a allied band.

"Six" is the retelling of the wives of King Henry the 8th, who was a well-known king of England in the 1500s. During his nearly 4 decades as king, he had six marriages. His desire to leave his first marriage led to the separation of the Church of England. Many people probably have heard of the story of Henry VIII. However, you be as familiar with the story of his many wives.
The musical focuses on the story of the six queens as they tell their individual experiences with Henry VIII. The queens try to decide who had the most awful experience in living with the king. The queens discuss divorce, rejections, infidelity, and even beheadings in a way that makes you laugh while also touching your emotions. There is a contemporary twist on the story by incorporating a dating app through a parody.
Eventually, they realize that arguing over who had the toughest time with Henry VIII is pointless. They come to realize that Henry VIII robbed them of their individuality. They’re not just the six wives of Henry VIII - they have their personal strengths that deserve celebrating. The ex-wives eventually work together to write new endings to their stories. They achieve their “happily ever afters” that Henry VIII denied them by dreaming of what their lives could have been like without seeing Henry VIII.
